5 things

In an effort to cheer my self up (this week is drraaag-ing, where is the weekend when you need it?) I though I would think of 5 things I like. Well...

1. Tree silhouettes. Tree silhouettes are my favourite thing to look at, especially at this time of year when the buds are just starting to appear, all knobbly. Bare branches are my favourite part of winter, and every year they come as a surprise to me. With all the lush and green of Summer, the trees so full and round, I forget the branches underneath and when the leaves start to fall I can't take my eyes off them. There's something about walking home at dusk, the sky glowing and looking at the patterns the branches create. And now we're teetering on the edge of spring, the leaves ready to take over, I'm looking and looking at branches, trying to take advantage of the view.

2. My dog. Since moving away from my parents house I really miss my dog, Poppy. We got her from the RSPCA when she was so tiny that she fit into the palm of my hand, and I carried her everywhere I went that summer. Now she is grown up, and I don't think she quite understands when she falls off my knee because she's now quite a big dog! I miss taking her on walks and seeing her everyday and playing catch with her ball. Am house sitting for my parents soon and will get to spend the whole week with her, hurray!

3. Reading. I read practically everything I see including information on cereal packets, notices on notice boards I walk past on my way to work and small print, but mostly I like reading books. I think I would go crazy if I wasn't allowd to read, and I love that where ever I am I can dissapear into the world of the book I'm reading at the time. Recent good reads include Kingdom of the Golden Dragon by Isabel Allende, Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks and Island by Aldous Huxley. Am always open to recomendations...

4. Curry. Need I say more?

And finally...
5. Well deserved rest. I love going out for a long walk over the hills, or spending a good day gardening and planting stuff, all that fresh air. But there's nothing like getting back home, taking off coats, boots, hats and siting down for a nice rest and a nice cup of tea (and maybe a chocolate or two!). Ahhh. Bliss.
