I've been...

Laying in the sunshine, under the trees, pretending I'm on holiday.

Walking in the rain.

Scrambling up Gordale Scar (and sliding back down again). Admiring the fields and walls and trees and stone from way above. Greens and yellows and greys. Wanting to make a patchwork quilt...

Folding concertina books

adventures

Over Easter we travelled to Ireland for the wedding of one of my best friends. To the south west coast, through the green hills that reminded me of home, on to the mountains...

This is the view from our bedroom window, sunshine every day. And the view up (and down) Knockatee mountain...

You can see the harbour where we stayed and the wedding took place, in the distance, and the Atlantic... it was beautiful...

(shhh. that's me on the rear left :) ) The reception was in this amazing old barn, the walls hung with multi coloured scarves and hangings, candles and rose petals and weeds creeping in at the windows...

Reminded me a little of my latest screen prints... Perhaps it's all the weeding I've been doing recently...

Happy days

back

Well, I made it safely back from Amsterdam...

...and despite a weather forecast of rain, rain, rain, it ended up being really bright sunny all week...

...so, lots of time spent sitting and watching the world go by; looking up at the wonky buildings, green trees, cobbled streets. Lots of sight seeing, lots of jumping out of the way of trams and fast moving take-no-prisoners cyclists and lots of walking...

The sunlight on the canals that run throughout the city mesmerised me. So many shades of green and grey, fast moving sparkly light...

We stayed on a house boat, which was great; much less choppy than I expected, just a gentle swaying when another boat sailed past... and our neighbours...

A bird making a nest from rubbish; bits of plastic, drinking straws, cable ties, sweet wrappers... I'm not sure if it's resourceful on the bird's part or a sad reflection on us... (It's nothing compared to this though) The little bird seemed happy enough, weaving and adjusting the bits...

These little coots were everywhere, buffeted about by the waves from the larger boats. I took this picture from a pedalo we hired, and the bird was dealing with the waves much better than we were!

Well. Back to work next week.

After 2 weeks of lie-ins, getting up in the morning is not something I'm looking forward to!

Well thought I'd come and say hello again before you start to think I've gone on holiday for good (if only!)

After a lazy time the week before last and then a lovely relaxing week away my life suddenly seems all hectic again. I started a new job this week (nothing exciting, just covering a different role for a few months, although there is something very exciting in the pipeline which I daren't even talk about quite yet) and I'd forgotten how rubbish it is not to know stuff! Well that sounds a bit arrogant but you know what I mean, and now I'm in charge of someone else's diary, perhaps I'll learn some tips for managing my own...

So hope you all had a good week, will be doing some catching up tomorrow hopefully, can't wait to see what creative loveliness had been going on whilst I've been away!
