Well...

Right. No more suspense. I got the job!! I can't believe it! In a months time I will be working full time in the print room here as their new print and bookbinding technician, my absolute dream job... It hasn't sunk in yet...

And I just want to say a great big massive *thank you* for all the support I've had from all you lovely people about this. Thank you for the good luck wishes and the wise words, it all means so much to me. In fact (whilst I'm in oscar acceptance speech mode) I think it goes much deeper than just this week. Since I began this blog I have felt so much more motivated to make the work I want to make, and follow the ideas I want to follow. All your comments; positive, constructive and so friendly, have made me realise that I can (and should!) make the things I like to make, and I've pushed myself too, because I want to show you the best work I can...

This book is an experiment (aren't they all!) and a bit scruffy! I want to make a photo album for my mum for her birthday next week, I want it to feel substantial and to open flat and to close properly even when the photos are in. The felt here is too thick but I like the effect of this binding, especially the spine, and it opens nicely. Hmmm, something to work on this weekend I think.

Now all I have to do is hand in my notice tomorrow... Weeeeeee!

Sarah that's bloody fantastic, I am so sooooo happy for you. You'll do brilliantly I'm sure. I'm a bit envious that you get to be around bookmaking all day long. Well done you. I can't wait to see how the album turns out. x

How wonderful for you, and lovely that you have felt more inspired lately, there's nothing better than feeling inspired and happy with what you do.
Best of luck with the job.

Congratulations, they are lucky to have you. it sounds like a dream job. Do you ever give classes on bookmaking .. for beginners ? I live in Hebden Bridge and would be very interested if you do. I love your work.

Oh well done! What fantastic news about the job.
Love what you said about keeping a blog. It's really been a fantastic motivator for me - partly because it's nice to share what I've been up to, but it's also so brill to look back over a few months and realise that you've achieved a lot!
And you have!

Enjoy your weekend,
Heather
