a bit of digging

This weekend me and my dad made a start on the tangled mess that is my garden. An overgrown hedge ran down the side of the house and it seemed like a bit of a waste of space. It surrounded a patio (another patio! There's a theme emerging here. hmmm) Anyway, we clipped back the hedge, dug it out, dug up the patio, tuned over the soil. I have plans for vegetables...

before

and during (my dad is ace)...

and 5 hours later, after!

Now I just need to go seed shopping...

That looks amazing. Fun thinking about what you can grow there now!

May I borrow your dad?

Your garden has lots of potential, it has that lovely stone wall and woodland view.I imagine that you will get lots of birds visiting and I can see bird feeders (in my mind's eye!) It is so nice to create your own garden, it will make your house your home.

If you're going to put veg in there, you'll need to add lots of compost first – it looks very starved of goodness to me. And if you haven't grown much veg before, make sure you include runner or french beans, or both, because they will almost certainly be successful. In my experience, trying to grow carrots, parsnips, cauliflowers, even cabbage, can be soul destroying.
I love your paper work by the way.

Oh yes, there are 6 sacks of the finest organic manure (from my mums horse!) lined up waiting to go in when I get the chance :)
